Hanke was born in a small town in Westphalia, Germany. Contrary to existing rumors, he was not the son of a local prostitute and a second-hand drug dealer, and he never stole any cars. He was never even kicked out of school, so he never really ran away from home. His upbringing could be described as sickeningly boring, sometimes even happy. The only abuse he ever endured was when his mother forced him to learn the accordion (Hanke pays a fortune to his shrinks, but recovery is slow). He also endured 5 years of classical piano training, his passion for soccer and rock music the only respite.

It all paid off in the end, though. Some alternative therapy and a rather obscure turn of events led Volker to a string of various kraut-rock bands such as Abra Kadava, Huckleberry Fun, and Dr. D. Zaster. After enjoying only limited success with "Hard To Say I'm Harry," he made the headlines with the controversial ballad "Kill The Barber." When the apocalyptic album "Lucy's Last Lover" flopped fatally (Hanke: "…my favorite failure…"), fans, finances and fortune finally faded, forgetting Folker forever (fuck!).

Surviving only a dozen more musical, financial and emotional shipwrecks, Volker finally washed ashore in New York City, where local hitseekers/hitmen Lukabrazi adopted the (Westph-) alien into their circle of trust.
