Piccione was groomed from an early age to inherit the Family business from his father, a well-respected jazz drummer and singer, who brought him along on jobs and showed him the ropes. Chris started playing in garage bands by the time he was a teenager, mostly punk and metal bands (Frenzy, The Oppressed, Jinxed, Outcry, The Rebels, etc.). He also played a diversity of gigs, from pit bands for high school musical productions, to various recording sessions (most notably a demo for country act Deke Rivers with Billy Joel's guitarist Tommy Byrnes). Additionally, Chris had success with top-40 band The Answer, traditional Irish music with Sean McCabe (founding member of The Prodigals), original rock acts Material Witness and Concrete Jungle, where he met Chris Young before forming Lukabrazi.
